For the Love of Lucite

ree

While we expect to find this glorious material in many of our favorite mid-century modern furniture and accessories, designers began toying with the material as early as the 1930s (Art Deco).

Sourced Wonders tell us that "Though it fell out of favor for decades, Lucite is now experiencing a major resurgence among vintage lovers who appreciate its lighthearted charm and creativity."

Thanks to the clarifications from Mr. Google, we can better understand the distinction between Lucite, acrylic and resin.  "Resin" is the umbrella term, "Acrylic" is a specific type of resin, and "Lucite" is a brand name for a high-quality version of acrylic. Lucite, being a higher-quality material, tends to be more expensive than other types of acrylic.
